Hi I have been using the QLB's (Quick Launch Buttons) on my dv7-1450US for almost two years now and across three OS's and most of the time without issue. However, over the past couple of months they have been driving me crazy. Most of the issues began after I loaded Windows 7 SP1 onto my Windows 7 Ultimate (64) OS.

The wireless button will randomly turn on and or off without anyone touching it and the same is true for the Sound Button. I have disabled/ uninstalled and reinstalled the QLB and Audio drivers so many times that it makes me ill to think about it. Hibernation makes everything worse. With each set of OS, drivers, security and other updates that Microsoft pushes out - the problem gets worse. The really bad thing about this is that if the QLB's are Orange my wireless and sound will not work. I have tried to uninstall the QLB drivers in the hope that it would allow the Wireless and Audio to work but that doesn't work. I have tried turning the firewall & anti-virus off and that makes no difference.

I have disabled all 'start-up' programs and unnecessary services, using Msconfig.exe and that makes no difference and neither works in Safe Mode. Is there anyway to permanently disable the QLB's and yet allow the Audio and Wireless network hardware to work??? Or better yet, does HP have a newer driver for some of its newer Notebooks that can also be used to address this issue???

It appears that the dlls or other components of the QLB driver have become unstable or incompatible with the OS and all of the updates. You would think that HP would update the driver but they haven't.
