Masterguard Ups Software Problems

There is a problem with the UPS unit i'm working on, which keeps bleeping every 30 seconds or so. It points to the batteries (according to the manuals) but after checking every battery in both the UPS and battery pack and finding out that they are working as required I can't believe that it's the battery pack or any of the batteries. I have a muli-link program and attached a 232 to comm port 3 (the only available port) but it can't detect anything using this program. I suspect it needs a reset but the manual doesn't advise on any of these matters.
