As I search around for info on the a853, with an eye toward matching that model with another named Milestone, I see no true 'a853 = Milestone?' Anywhere (so far). The only clue I have is a yield of a CyanogenMod ROM for the a853 posted in a generic Milestone forum, which hints that the a853 is just the European version.

I don't consider that clue strong enough to recommend attempting to root the a853 based on Milestone ATR advice/links/tutorials or other info. I'd hate to see an attempt lead up to big issues, non-functionality etc. It's time for deeper searching, unless somebody who really does know chimes in with a post about it. It might be best to just ask openly in the Milestone general area. Thanks for the responses.
